Community services: Carol Wood was hired as director of public policy and governmental affairs at the United Way of King County.

Family services: Raj Manhas, former Seattle Public Schools superintendent, was named executive director of Seeds of Compassion for the Kirlin Foundation.

Health care: Dr. Brian Wicks was elected president of the Washington State Medical Association.
