Silvertips fall behind early, can’t recover

SPOKANE. - The Spokane Chiefs started quickly, then held on for a 3-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips in a Western Hockey League game Saturday night.

Spokane scored 45 seconds into the game on a goal by Brandon Bowman. The Chiefs upped the lead to 2-0 on Mitch Wahl’s goal later in the period.

Everett cut the deficit to 2-1 on Zach Hamill’s seventh goal of the season at the 2:21 mark of the second period, but Spokane answered about six minutes later on Levko Koper’s goal.

Shane Harper scored with 2:55 remaining for the Silvertips to make it 3-2, but they could not get the equalizer.

Irving Leland stopped 25 of 28 shots for Everett (11-10). Dustin Tokarski stopped 26 of 28 shots for Spokane.
